"Tango is the moment when two people communicate without words to express a feeling with just an embrace, a glance." - Virginia Pandolfi

Dear Tango Friend,

a

  Pedro & Sophia tango at
Darling Harbour Fiesta 2006

October 1-7 is going to be a great time to be in Sydney if you love Tango!

We start the week off on Monday, 1st October (long weekend) with a "Mini Milonga" at the Aqua Shell, Darling Harbour from 2:20pm - 2:45pm. An official event of the Darling Harbour Fiesta (28 September to 1 October).

Tango aficionados are invited to dance at this FREE event. The dancing will be in a group situation and improvised, with a few solo dances as well.

The Fiesta organisers stipulate that dancers are required to dress elegantly in red/black. No jeans allowed! Please arrive at 2pm if you are dancing. >> Fiesta Program

PATIO de TANGO's next monthly Milonga (Tango social night) on Saturday, 6 October at Club Rose Bay is both a farewell for Fabián Peralta (2006 World Salon Tango champion) and Virginia Pandolfi and PATIO de TANGO’s 6th Birthday celebration. We warmly invite all our students and Tango aficionados from Sydney and out-of-town to this special event.

Those new to Tango may like to do the Introductory Tango Lesson at 8pm which is FREE with the Milonga cover charge... No partner required!

The night after (7 October) Fabián and Virginia will be guests at the 5th Milonga Para Los Niños (Dance for the Children); a Charity Milonga to be held at Marrickville; organised by PATIO de TANGO, Jacqueline Simpson & Entre Amigos.

Donations for the silent auction and raffles will be greatly appreciated. Donors, please contact the Donations Coordinator, Sima Oertli, on 9337-1900 or 0411 822258 or email soertli@eveningstar.cc

There's also a series of great Workshops by Fabián and Virginia over that week, including one on 5 October for all levels (not advertised on original flyer).

We're also looking forward to participating in the Aerolineas Argentinas International Tango Congress of New Zealand in October. Many thanks to Aerolineas Argentinas for sponsoring our trip.

AUSTRALIAN SALON TANGO CHAMPIONSHIP SIMULATION & PROMOTION NIGHT  | 4 October at the Spanish Club

In late 2006 we hosted a Tango Salon Championship simulation with Roberto Herrera and Tamara Bisceglia as judges. It’s back by popular demand with Fabián and Virginia (the ambassadors of the 'Australian Tango Championship 2008') as judges! Whether or not you are entering the Championship in 2008, this is a great opportunity to get some expert feedback and advice on your dancing; and it’s all for FREE (with the cover charge).

The event will be convened by the founder of the 'Australian Tango Championship', Susan Hargrave. Three songs are played representing different orchestras (e.g. Pugliese, Di Sarli, D’Arienzo). The songs are not known in advance by the contestants to ensure that the dancing is completely improvised. Contestants will be observed by Fabián and Virginia, who rate each couple according to musicality, posture, connection, footwork and floorcraft.

All contestants should check out the official contestant guidelines at www.tangochampionship.com.au/salonrules.htm

At the end of the 3 songs, the judges decide on the winning couple who will be announced and awarded some special prizes! Other ratings will not be made public, but contestants are encouraged to get feedback from Fabián and Virginia on their dancing.

PRIVATE LESSONS

An other way to take advantage of Fabián and Virginia’s expertise is to book a private lesson. Contact Sophia if you're interested.
