"We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once.” - Friedrich Nietzsche
We’re so excited about the opening of the 'El Beso' Tango Bar which will showcase Sydney’s fine Tango musicians. We’ve always felt that it was important to encourage and promote live Tango music. And isn’t it fantastic that there are now at least three established Tango bands in Sydney! A sign of a healthy and growing Tango scene. Our outdoor Milonga concept has proved to be very popular, and there’s more in September and October at three beautiful locations in the Eastern Suburbs. Our Milongas and classes will continue as usual. The only change is that we'll start an extra Intermediate / Advanced class on Saturdays in Paddington as from 29th October. In October we'll be performing and teaching at Tango Festivals in Melbourne and Auckland. Many thanks to LAN Airlines for sponsoring our flight to the New Zealand Tango Congress. Did you know that they’ve expanded their presence in Australia to five weekly flights from Sydney to Santiago, via Auckland; and that they've recently started operating LAN Argentina - the hub of which is in Buenos Aires? Read on for more details of past and future happenings in the Tango world,
and there are some great photos . . . Congratulations to the winners of the World Tango Championship Buenos Aires 2005 . . .
A Gala Event not to be missed . . . THE 'EL BESO' TANGO BAR ! 'El Beso' (Spanish for 'the Kiss') is a romantic name like the ambience of the space and the sentiment of the dance, and a dedication to one of our favourite Milonga venues... El Beso in Buenos Aires.
Sunday, 25th September, 6pm - 11pm It's centrally located and only a short walk from Town Hall station.
As from September 25 'El Beso' will be open every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month from 6pm - 11pm. It's an elegant and luxurious venue
with a lovely dance floor, space for lounging, two bar
stewards at your service, soft romantic lighting . . . and live Music !
We're delighted to have Sydney's original and longest-running Tango band, Cambalache, playing for us. The four-piece band, with a line-up of professional Tango musicians, will play traditional Tangos, Milongas and Vals for social dancing. And between sets, our experienced Tango DJ will keep the floor humming with tandas of traditional and contemporary Tango Argentino. The cover charge includes a Beginners Tango Lesson at 6pm and social dancing from 7pm onwards. You don't need to bring a partner, but you'll need to book the lesson. As it is within RSL's, you'll need to sign in at the door and produce an ID with your address. You won't need to become a member, and we can even sign you in if you live within 5 km of the Club. If you'd like to become a member though, membership is $5 per year. Open Air Tango Dancing ! New to Tango? If you’d like to see what social Tango dancing (Argentine style) looks like, come along to our regular open-air Milongas. They are FREE events and all are welcome to watch, and we’ll be there to talk to you more about Tango.

- RECENT HIGHLIGHTS -
Saturday Milonga in Rose Bay - 3/9/05 Open Air Milonga at Bondi Beach - 21/8/05
"Pedro and Sophia, Thank you for a delightful day dancing Tango by the beach. You brought a little bit of Buenos Aires to Bondi, and clearly the crowd enjoyed the show. As a beginner to Tango, I felt very shy to step out onto the dance floor seeing so many tourists waiting curiously with their cameras – but I'm so glad that I did, because it showed me how much you've taught me in such a short time and built my confidence dancing as well. Looking forward to the next...” - Wendy Dent, filmmaker
“It was not just myself who enjoyed the Libertango Trio so much last Tuesday… Anyone who loves music appreciates live music and I think all Tango lovers present were wooed by the Trio. Their tempo changes particularly were fantastic. Thanks for giving them the license to thrill.” - Julian Wright Fundraiser for the Sydney Regional Division of the World Tango Championship at Entre Amigos in Marrickville - 14/8/05
We performed on that night with four other Sydney based Tango schools and it was very satisfying to work together for a good cause. Well done Entre Amigos for organising this great event.
Suzy, one of our talented Tango students, invited Pedro to perform with her a Tango dance at her birthday party. She danced beautifully and wowed everyone present. It was her first public Tango performance. Congratulations and Feliz Cumpleaños Suzy!
Until we dance, un abrazo tanguero from . . .
