The nights are getting cooler and cosier for Tango. The local Latin band BANDA-LĒ certainly warmed up the night at our last Milonga.

PATIO de TANGO Milonga, 6 March

If you missed out, we'll have again some great LIVE MUSIC at our next Saturday Milonga . . .

1) MILONGA...featuring sensual songbird JEANNE BASTOS!

Saturday 3 April, 8pm - 12:30am, Rose Bay RSL, New South Head Road, Entry $18 (includes FREE introductory tango lesson from 7pm - 8pm). Bookings are essential.Jeanne BASTOS

Add the intoxicating atmosphere of a Milonga to the pure beauty and dynamism of one of Australia's most talented and popular Brazilian singers... Tango - Samba - Bossa Nova. Let the music and dance inspire you !

"One of the highlights of my trip was being serenaded by the lovely Jeanne Bastos. Her presence was so powerful she had the men in Alfredo’s band (and everyone else in attendance) in the palm of her hand. Her voice was beauty in its purest form, her command strong but understated." (Liz Lebron, Manager, Alfredo de la Fe Band, Source: VIVA Magazine)

Fabulous tango music from our Tango DJ through the night. Jeanne, accompanied by her partner Sean Mackenzie on piano, will perform from 9:45pm - 10:15pm and invite you to dance to their rhythms.

2) NEW MILONGA !

On 14 May 2004 we'll be starting a NEW monthly Milonga on the SECOND FRIDAY of every month. We're thrilled to have found a great venue for tango dancing and will give you more details very soon.

Our WEEKLY TUESDAY and occasional SATURDAY Milongas at the ROSE BAY RSL will continue unchanged.

Upcoming Saturday dates are: 29 May and 31 July.

3) A great night for dancers and Latin music lovers !

Jorge and Flavio of BANDA-LĒ had the floor packed with dancers who couldn't resist the cumbias, merenges, sambas, cha chas and other latin beats.

Thanks to all who braved the stormy night for our March 6 Milonga at Rose Bay. Special congratulations to the many PATIO de TANGO students who turned up for their first tango social dance and danced so well.

We always encourage our students to go to socials,  to get on the floor and do the kilometres - its the only way to become a really good social tango dancer.

It was also great to have some tangueros visiting from Italy and America, who proved that Tango is an international language.                       [top of page]

8) Strictly Dancing - PATIO de TANGO students on TV ! !

Strictly Dancing, an exciting new variety show on ABC TV, is a dance competition in search of Australia's ultimate dance couple.

Auditions were held in every State capital city to find dancers who were adept at both ballroom and 'street' styles, or who were willing to adapt and capable of learning.

It's riveting viewing for dance enthusiasts as every week four couples compete in front of a live audience with a live band in a nightclub setting.

Linda and Adrian GOOD LUCK!We're thrilled that our Tango students Linda De Nicola and Adrian Seib have progressed to the semi-finals. We wish them all the best!!!

ABC TV, Fridays at 8.00 pm

Heats: February 13 - April 30

Semi-finals: May 7, 14 and 21

Grand final on May 28

9) Tangoing in the streets of Sydney . . .

On March 11 from 12 - 2pm in Martin Place (Castlereagh Street end) you can catch Pedro and Sophia, along with some of Sydney's other tango teachers tangoing in public!

We believe this is one of the best ways to promote Argentine Tango and thank Jacqueline Simpson for her efforts in organising this. We would love to hear from you about any other possible spaces for public tangoing.

Give the gift of Tango to someone special in your life!

Tango is a great way to meet new people and for couples to share and enjoy their time together.

"Thank you so much for creating a wonderful atmosphere in which to learn Tango. My dance partner and I love the way you convey the elegance and mood of the dance; and we enjoy ourselves so much, that at the end of each lesson we could go on dancing all night."    Belinda Alexandra, best selling novelist
