"Latin music,
especially tango inspires in me, an instant connection to all human emotions -
from sadness to joy, sensuality to spirituality, toughness to tenderness. It's a
unique experience to be able to translate and share all these feelings through
dance with another person."
-
Moshlo Shaw, Brisbane (Tango teacher and violinist with Tango Paradiso)

There have been some great
Tango experiences this month, in particular the Sydney International Tango
Festival. What a great experience to have the 6 amazing teachers Cecilia
Gonzales, Pablo Inza, Lucia Mazer, Ezequiel Farfaro, Mario Consiglieri, and
Anabella Diaj-Hoffman. And always a pleasure to dance with interstate
aficionados who add such a buzz to milongas!

Another highlight was
performing with the wonderful local Orquesta Tipica - Tiempo de Tango and Edgard
Alvarez and Linda Skrgatic at the Closing Gala of the Spanish Film Festival at
the Academy Twins Cinema in Paddington. Thanks to Ed and Linda for putting on a
great show, as did Tiempo de Tango. Find out more about them on
their
website or call Maggie for bookings on 0417 238 930.

"20% of Stanford students are in engineering
but 40% of my dance students are engineers. So proportionally twice as many
engineers are drawn to dance as other majors. Many of them tell me they are
intentionally looking to balance their left-brain analytical work with a
nonverbal, intuitive, musical and physical experience."

"We watched as the couples executed their steps
and swivels, their dramatic twirls and pregnant pauses, pressed tight and
upright against one another, with nothing much in common besides a look of
almost somber concentration.
I particularly liked the young woman with the
liquid hips, in her flowered dress, and that sly-looking older man with his
sober dark suit and rockabilly pompadour. But the milonga seemed above all a
democratic affirmation, both casual and intense, of the beauty of each and all
of its participants."
- Brian Dunn, American Tango teacher, describing a Buenos Aires Milonga |

"Sunday night was fantastic, I loved every minute, especially sitting
watching those who knew what they were doing." - John Giuffre
