We're now in the full swing of festivities! If you’re feeling a little stressed by all the “Christmas rush”, take some time out and tango - it really does help to clear the mind and to connect with yourself and others. Isn’t that what this season is all about?

We sincerely thank all the friends of PATIO de TANGO who have attended and supported our events throughout this year as well as the many angels behind the scene that helped us make it all possible.

In case we don’t see you  before the New Year, we wish you success and happiness for 2005.

We put the spotlight on two fascinating people who leant Tango with us in 2004 - actor/singer - Tyran Parke and local author Lilian Skurnik

Tyran Parke has been touring NZ in the production of EVITA, which requires him to Tango dance on stage! An excerpt from a recent email . . .

“On the first day the choreographer, Miriam Cuperman, had heard I had done some lessons with you guys and she wanted to test me out I guess. She came up and said, "Ok then Tango. Go". Thank God I remembered the things you taught me! It’s quite interesting as each of the dances come out of different emotions but they are still variations on the Tango steps you taught me… “

Lilian Skurnik is a bright vivacious, energetic woman who is totally blind. Lilian has recently released her autobiography "Out of Sight". It’s a great read. To purchase a copy contact Lilian on (02) 9371 8336.

“At the age of 14, I became blind due to a brain tumour. However this has not stopped me from loving dancing and learning Tango. I find that for me the most important thing is rhythm, and if one can develop that anyone can become a good dancer.” (Lilian Skurnik)                                      [top of page]
