WE HAVE SOME
EXCITING EVENTS IN STORE FOR TANGO LOVERS, with the Sydney tour
of Fabián Peralta and Virginia Pandolfi, which commences with
their Welcome Milonga and first workshop at Club Rose Bay on
Tuesday, 28th August.
Our next term of courses ranging
from complete beginners to advanced students start in mid August,
with early bird rate ending on 6th August.
From next term onwards, due to the
Alliance Française moving premises we will permanently cease our
Monday classes at the Alliance Française. Bondi Beach classes
(currently held on Thursday nights) will relocate to Monday
nights - still at Bondi Pavilion with Edgard as instructor.
Our monthly Saturday Milonga (Tango
social night) is on Saturday, 4th August at Club Rose Bay. We
warmly invite all our students and Tango aficionados. Those new
to Tango may like to do the Introductory Tango Lesson at 8pm
which is FREE with the Milonga cover charge. No partner is
required. This is a great way to see if Tango is the dance for
you!

Fabián Peralta & Virginia Pandolfi
An experience of grace and elegance…
FABIÁN PERALTA with his partner VIRGINIA PANDOLFI will be
in Sydney from 28th August – 5th September and 2nd – 7th October.
Their Sydney visit is hosted by PATIO de TANGO in association
with NicNac Theatre Inc, and in support of the Australian Tango
Championship 2008 and Sydney’s 5th Milonga Para Los Niños.
Fabián won the Salon World Tango
Champs in BA 2006 with Natasha Poberaj (Roberto Herrera's ex
partner). Fabián and Virginia are members of Miguel Zotto’s elite
dance troupe Tango Para Dos. Previously Fabián was director of
the Tango Stage company Corporacion Tango.
Fabián & Virginia are exponents of
the Villa Urquiza style, which is a very established and popular
style in Buenos Aires. Villa Urquiza style dancers include some
of our favourite dancers. To mention just a few...
• Javier Rodriguez & Andrea Misse
• Julio Balmaceda & Corina de La Rosa
• Geraldine Rojas
• Natasha Poberaj
• Pablo Rodriguez & Noelia Hurtado (winners of the 2006
Metropolitan Salon Tango Championship, Buenos Aires)
The style continues to grow in
popularity with the younger generation of Tango dancers. If you
are going to Tango in Buenos Aires, especially at the popular
Tango Club – Sunderland - it will be a big asset to know how to
dance this style!
Fabián and Virginia are in hot
demand around the international Tango circuit. They are fluent in
English and will bring to Sydney an experience of grace and
elegance.
They are the official ambassadors
of the Australian Tango Championship 2008 and they will also be
teaching and performing in...
• Hamilton, NZ (Planet Dance)
• Melbourne (Solo Tango)
• Perth (Perth Tango Club)
• Byron Bay Tango Fest (Tango Nut Events)
• Port Macquarie (Michael Madden Dance Academy).
Their tour will culminate in Sydney with a Milonga Para Los Niños (fundraiser for disadvantaged
children in Argentina) on October 7. More details out soon. Fabián's website:

"I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed last night's
class at the Spanish Club and the Practica that followed. We had enough partners so I was able to dance all night which
was wonderful… Pedro, thank you for your patience and encouragement when we danced Tango during the Practica."

"Thank you for a terrific Beginners
1 course. I learnt not only steps but also a whole basic
mentality of the dance: the musicality, the intensity of
communication required, the ability (needed of women dancers) not
to anticipate the next movement but instead to ready oneself for
whatever might come. The course was taught by Pedro with humour,
sensitivity and an inspired lightness of touch… What an inspiring
start to what I hope will be years of dancing."

"Here's the deal: Women couldn’t give a rip what the steps are. We care about how
they feel. If the embrace feels good, the steps will likely feel good, in open frame or close embrace.
The man's task involves making the dance interesting, and that involves rhythmic
interpretations, changes of direction, etc… If the embrace is comfortable, we are ok with simple steps led with tenderness
and musicality.
We love changes of direction and intimate check steps, but our top priority is how you
hold us... This is the main reason that, in our opinion, some leaders can become "good" in a relatively short time.
If they understand that we care more about how the dance feels than how it looks or what steps are involved, they "get
it." To please the woman, concentrate on the embrace, then the steps."
