"Dance what makes you
feel cool" - Emile Sansour (guest
teacher at Tangomania 2006)

This newsletter has been slow
in arriving as we’ve been immersed in travelling around Australia and hosting
overseas teachers. There have been many great experiences over the past two
months.
March Highlights . . .
In the last week of March we had the great pleasure of hosting Mariana Dragone
and Jaimes Friedgen who performed at Rose Bay and El Beso and ran a series of
excellent workshops. What inspiring dancers, teachers and human beings they are!
We’d definitely like them back.

In mid March we were invited by
the Alice Springs Tango community to run Tango workshops and perform at a
“Harmony Day” celebration put on by a local radio station. A very warm group of
people, we were entranced by the Alice Springs Tangueros, the desert landscape,
huge skies and the energy of the place. A big thank you to the tireless
organisers Reyna Menadue and Cherry Pie Basso who are helping to make Tango a
reality in the Red Centre.

April Highlights . . .
We were invited to teach and perform at Tangomania (14 – 17/4/06). The Tango
Festival, organised by Siempre Tango over the Easter weekend consisted of 4 days
of workshops, 2 milongas, one of which was at the Coriole Vineyard in McLaren
vale. What a great way to spend Easter! The Festival featured the
simpatico and talented teachers from Stuttgart Germany, Emile Sansour and
Nazan
Greiner. Other teachers invited to the Festival were Adelaide locals Adrienne
Jarvis and Andrew Gil and Sydney locals Lisa Delazzari and Peter Waller.

Many thanks to our hospitable
hosts Pat Petronio and Bob Youngson, and Megan Jones and the Siempre Tango crew.

warm presence. Not to mention the workshops and performances."

PATIO de TANGO’s next term of six week courses starts in the fourth week of
May. In the next term we will have four venues to choose from and
swap between for Fundamentals 1: Monday and Sunday night in the City, Wednesday
night at Darlinghurst and Thursday night at Bondi Beach! This will allow for
smaller classes with more individual attention and make it even easier for our
students to get extra practice.
We are proud to announce that from May 25th onwards Edgard Alvarez will
be joining the Patio de Tango team and teaching Fundamentals 1 at Bondi Beach.
More details on events and classes below . . .

Fast approaching, the Festival features 12
workshops and 4 Milongas, and returns to Sydney the international teachers who
were so popular (and mesmerising to watch) at last year's Festival...
Cecilia Gonzales and Pablo Inza, Anabella Diaj-Hoffman and Mario Consiglieri
Plus... Lucia Mazer (former dance partner of Fabián Salas and Chicho
Frumboli) and Ezequiel Farfaro (former dance partner of Milena Plebs).
This is an amazing line-up and the feature Milonga will be at Luna Park’s
Crystal Ballroom. It’s going to be a great time to be in Sydney if you love
Tango and an opportunity to meet and dance with Tango aficionados from across
Sydney and Australia. More details on
the
Festival’s official website.
